Quotes: A faster way to write

Writing on the internet

The easy availability of ebooks, articles, and information has changed the way that I write. It used to be about writing things down, organizing notes on paper and then typing things up.

How we write now

Now, I’ve noticed that this is how my friends and I at the University of Chicago write papers:

1) Gather list of quotes in word/pages/gdocs by copying / pasting / manually typing from books

2) Find trends in quotes, and in our opinion of them

3) Sort quotes by topic / idea

4) Develop a basic thesis and outline

5) Put quotes into outline

6) Write

Unfortunately, this way of writing is pretty hard in apps like Pages and Word. None of the writing apps currently are designed for organizing quotes / ideas like this.

An easier way

Quotes is a very simple app I put together to make this easier. It helps you enter, keep track of, sort, and export quotes. If you’re interested in trying it out, drop me a message on github for a code.
