How Jason Fried avoids feature bloat

It’s so tempting to fix every little bug and to build everything your customers want you to. Jason is so good at avoiding this. He either says “yes, we have that,” “that’s something that we’re thinking about,” “no, x doesn’t support y” or “no, but you can do that by doing xyz”.

If you want to see this in action, check out the constant feature bloat avoidance at answers.37signals.com

In fact, chances are Jason has already dealt with a lot of the feature requests that you get. For example, if you get a request from your partner, your boss, or a customer to add some random calendar stuff to your app, you can go to the answers app and see how 37s dealt with it by searching.

Below is a great example. A naive company might have said “oooh, yes, we need to add ‘type’ to project and then add a bunch of pages to let people group them.” Jason is pro at avoiding that bs.
